My favorite bit - the throwaway at the beginning where he pays for a local paper out of coin-op box, starts reading it, screams, puts more money in the box, puts it back, and walks away. It's in the first two minutes of the movie, and I just laughed and laughed.
I loved this bit! One of my favorite things about the film is his friendship with Shelley Duvall--it was one of more realistic man/woman best friend relationships I've ever seen in the movies. Oh, and also the really sweet romance that develops between the cocktail waitress (Sandy, right?) and the hot stud firefighter is great; they're very much suited for each other without being complete dimbulbs.
Bill Murray: Lost in Trans. obv., Ed Wood, Rushmore, ... um I'm blanking about what he actually did in Tootsie or Royal Tenenbaums but they are my other two anyway.

Yeah, I love that. In other versions of Cyrano, I always feel bad for Christian, and end up muttering to myself, "Damn, why don't you just look for a pretty, sweet, uncomplicated girl with whom you can have a basketful of rosy-cheeked healthy bairns, instead of flailing and being miserable around someone so out of your league?"
Favorite throwaway Roxanne bit: "I want to look like... Diana Ross."

Yes and yes. Such a sweet movie. And Daryll Hannah in this was just lovable (as she was in Splash). Amazing considering how GODDAMN FUCKING SCARY she can be (Blade Runner, Kill Bill 1&2).

If we're talking Steve Martin, "Roxanne" is my favorite, but I have a place in my heart for "L.A. Story."
