I can't even.

For me it has to be a patrician voice (preferrably British) that can just drip contempt and lack of caring.

Rickman really is perfection for Marvin. I'm hearing him that way already. I dunno if he is a bit overexposed (see: Potter, H.), but as long as it works for me, that will be fine.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I remember the radio Marvin being rather Rickman-ish -- very deep, very British.

brillig

Plus Rickman can do the "I'm so painfully bored" overtones that Marvin needs.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Okay, now I know what I'm spending my Borders gift card from Xmas on--the complete HGttG set of books. I haven't read them in years.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

I actually got the leather-bound "Complete" Hitchhiker's Guide book years and years ago, this was before the release of Mostly Harmless, I need to break it out and re-read it at some point. I have no desire to find a copy of Mostly Harmless, though. When I read it it felt very much like Adams went "There, I ended it. Now stop bugging me for more HH books."

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

I have probably owned more copies of the Hitchhiker's Trilogy than any other book(s). I can think offhand of about 6 different versions I owned before reequeen and I got together, and we've been through about 3 more. We currently have 2, one of them in a compleate hardbound edition, one in each individual paperback, as well as the original radio scripts.

If I only had a brain...

I dunno if he is a bit overexposed

Hands up with everybody who would be happy with a great deal more Rickman-exposure, and I mean that in both the porn and non-porn senses.

I thought so.

I have this one too. And the paperbacks. And the radio show, and the tv show.

Yes, but do you have the newly-recorded THIRD BBC radio show?

No... but I have the Radio Times with the ginormous article about it. Does that count?

I ordered it from amazon.co.uk.

I have been buying books for comfort as well as eating for comfort. Now I am having to buy clothes for discomfort.
