Do Gods & Monsters (the guy who directed Frankenstein) and The Whole Wide World (Robert E. Howard) count? Or are they just movies who portray real people at a certain stage in their lives?

Do Gods & Monsters (the guy who directed Frankenstein) and The Whole Wide World (Robert E. Howard) count?
In my head they count. No biopic tells the whole story of anyone's life. I'm mostly wondering about people who not only become other people, but become other people we have a real world knowledge of, disappearing into them.
I think I mentioned this obliquely above, but I still have to go with Ben Kingsley's performance in Ghandi.
I could watch that movie just about any time, Gandalfe.
Also? Ed Harris as John Glenn in The Right Stuff.
And who could forget Gary Oldman in Sid and Nancy?
And who could forget Gary Oldman in Sid and Nancy?
Oh yeah. And Gary Oldman in Prick Up Your Ears. Wait, I've never seen footage of Joe Orton. But I'm sure Oldman's portrayal was very accurate.
Ed Harris as John Glenn in The Right Stuff.
Hell, the whole cast were great.
You also have Cagney as Lon Chaney in The Man of a Thousand Faces. Not great but enjoyable.
Geoffrey Rush as David Helfgott in Shine, was excellent. Did anyone watch the Peter Sellers TV biopic? What was Rush like as Sellers?
ita, why didn't you mention how freaking sad Soldier's Girl is? just finished watching it and gah! i just don't understand some people... and the fact that this is a true story not very far from where i am makes it even worse.
Sorry, tiggy. It just about wrecked me. Knowing that it was not only true, but probably unexceptional doesn't help.
But wasn't Lee great?
Lee was amazing! he makes a very pretty woman.
