Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Cheesiest movie lines:

[link]

1. "Titanic": Leonardo DiCaprio's "I'm the king of the world!"

2. "Dirty Dancing": Patrick Swayze's "Nobody puts Baby in the corner."

3. "Four Weddings And A Funeral": Andie McDowell's "Is it still raining? I hadn't noticed."

4. "Ghost": Demi Moore's "Ditto," to Patrick Swayze's "I love you."

5. "Top Gun": Val Kilmer to Tom Cruise: "You can be my wingman anytime."

6. "Notting Hill": Julia Roberts' "I'm just a girl ... standing in front of a boy ... asking him to love her."

7. "Independence Day": Bill Pullman's "Today we celebrate our Independence Day!"

8. "Braveheart": Mel Gibson's "They may take our lives, but they will never take our freedom!"

9. "Jerry Maguire": Renee Zellweger to Tom Cruise: "You had me at hello."

10. "The Postman": A blind woman says to Kevin Costner: "You're a godsend, a savior." He replies: "No, I'm a postman."

Art Crawl!!!

5. "Top Gun": Val Kilmer to Tom Cruise: "You can be my wingman anytime."

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Aw, I sort of like "You had me at hello."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I like it because it spawned 'You had me at "let's gear up."'

I think "You complete me." is much cheesier.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

10. "The Postman": A blind woman says to Kevin Costner: "You're a godsend, a savior." He replies: "No, I'm a postman."

I haven't seen the film, but I feel "They wore hats," which had me collapsing in giggles every time I saw the trailer, deserves at least an honorable mention.

1. "Titanic": Leonardo DiCaprio's "I'm the king of the world!"

Seriously? "I'm kind of the world!" is cheesier than "I will never let go"?

Maybe there's an extra bonus cheese factor since James Cameron repeated the line when accepting his Oscar.

"I'm the king of the world" is so immediately identifiable -- I never hear it without thinking of Titanic. As someone who's never actually seen the movie, I had no idea "I will never let go" was from it. I think sticking out gains points.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

5. "Top Gun": Val Kilmer to Tom Cruise: "You can be my wingman anytime."

Probably, but it's famous cos it's the line Tarantino misquotes (as "you can ride my tail anytime") in the gay Top Gun speech in Sleep With Me.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

"Top Gun": Val Kilmer to Tom Cruise: "You can be my wingman anytime."

Dude, that line is SO not cheesy! Because it's immediately followed by "Bullshit. *You* can be *mine.*"

signed,
Top Gun apparently played a larger role in my formative years than I thought

Brought the slash early, did it?
