Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Oooh, must join Vonnie in the Meet Me in St. Louis corner. I must think of it as a Judy Garland movie rather than a Christmas movie, because it didn't even occur to me despite being one of my two all-time favorites.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Oh, yeah, the animated Grinch is probably the only holiday special I try to watch these days.

"Year Without a Santa Clause" is always fun, for the Mrs. C/Jingle&Jangle/Heat Meiser/Cold Meiser/Mother Nature sequences.

"Boys...boys...BE QUIET!!!!" "Yes, Mother dear."

Rudolph is on this week, and it's probably my sentimental favorite Christmas special. Unfortunately, it's on opposite Lost, so I'll have to torrent it. *g*

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

refreshingly morbid

Kathy, may I please tag this?

Rudolph is on opposite Lost? That tears it. Rudolph gets watched live, Lost will be taped. Some holiday traditions are sacred.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I can watch Rudolph any time I want.

Sure, Anne!

Since it's the last new ep until January, and I can only tune into one show at a time (stupid digital cable box!), I guess I'll be watching Lost. The Snowman always gave the creeps, anyway.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

My favorite Christmas movie is, without a doubt, The Muppets Christmas Carol.

Next is likely Scrooged.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Popping in to rub my hands gleefully and cackle about the main accomplishment of the evening: successfully wooing Emmett away from his five hundredth viewing of "Teen Titans" and pimping the Marx Brothers to him. We watched A Day At The Races and he loves them. Even sat through the Chico and Harpo musical interludes! Insisted on rewinding and rewatching two different scenes! Had to be pried away from the penultimate scene with a crowbar! Is this vintage toaster-worthy?

The Marx Brothers are timelessly hilarious. I'm so proud of Emmett
