I have never ever ever liked Thomas Hayden Church in anything ever ever ever.
I liked him in Demon Knight. And Billy Zane never looked hotter . . . . Oh, wait. I'm straight. Disregard that.
A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

There must be something wrong with you, emotionally.

Even though I liked Lost in Translation , I just didn't love love it, like everyone else did. I have a feeling if I hadn't heard all the hype about it, I would have liked it more than I did, though.
I just saw Bridget. I liked it a lot, I didn't love it, and there were way too many moments where I felt like running out into the hall, but I did like it. However, they made Bridge look bad in this movie, and they totally didn't in the first one. There is no reason for Bridget to be splotchy all the time. She's a little overweight, but she's still pretty. I mean, geez, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth spend all their time fighting over her. She can be allowed to use foundation and mascara effectively. Speaking of Hugh and Colin, I want them to do another movie together, where it's just the two of them, all the time. They both bring so much energy to their scenes together, like they're constantly trying to outdo each other in the charisma department, that the only person who could possibly win is the person watching them. So, in conclusion, I am voting for an all Hugh all Colin all the time movie.
Saw Ray and Kinsey tonight. Liked both of them, although I was more impressed with Kinsey. Ray was about the man, and a fascinating man he was, but Kinsey was about more than just the person. I will saym cinematic comsiderations aside, it's really really hard not to dance around to all the fabulous Ray Charles music in the movie. The acting was great in both films--the Best Actor category is going to be quite the horse race this year..
Oh, and I enjoyed Peter Saarsgard naked and making out with Liam Neeson in Kinsey VERY MUCH.
Oooh, that's enough to get me into the theatre right there. :-)
That's the point -- to poke gentle fun at people who talk about "the undertones of chewy moss and smoky leather" in their wine.
The people who write the wine columns for the NYTimes were geeking out like mad over this movie about a month ago. They were so happy that someone had made a film just for them!!! They were all "'Soupcon of asparagus!' We TOTALLY REALLY SOUND LIKE THAT! WE ARE GINORMOUS GEEKS! YAY!" It was the most adorable column I'd ever read.
VERY MUCH.
Guh. Yes. Good scene, that.
Note to self: see Kinsey ASAP. I will also go to see Bridget Jones eventually, because my housemate LOVES the first movie (and I like it a lot too), even though we've both read the second book and thought it wasn't nearly as good as the first one. So, I expect it to be pretty crappy, but at least there will be the Colin and the Hugh.
And now you all have convinced me to see Sideways as well. And hopefully Bad Education will be opening here before too long...
Lowell Mather was hilarious.
For some of us, that value of "hilarious" = pointless and annoying. Church isn't so awful that I couldn't put up with him for Debbra Messing in Ned & Stacy, but I've never ever liked him in anything he's done.
So, in conclusion, I am voting for an all Hugh all Colin all the time movie.
I can totally get behind this.

Can they be wet for most of it?
