Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Hey Nova - thanks! I was able to view it through Quicktime at home before I saw your link. Bill Cosby is the executive producer btw.

...I decided to not include it since, technically, it follows a different plot.

But they almost all follow different plots. The radio series differs from the books, certainly. The tv series was largely based on the books, though of necessity condensed. No idea how the film will go.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Broadway Musical!

Oh great - now I'm envisioning Andrew Lloyd Webber's HITCHIKER'S GUIDE

We'll edit that "to the galaxy" right out of the title.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

It has also been a text game, though I don't know how official that version was...

[eta: And clearly, if it is to be a Broadway Musical, it must be called Don't Panic!]

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The Infocom game, Jessica?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

You can play the HHGttG text adventure here: [link]

Yes, that's the one! I was completely pathetic at it.

I can't even.

Love it. Alternatively: Galaxy! (or is that too science-y?)

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I finally saw The Big Lebowski and found it quite funny indeed. Not as hysterically funny as the people in the room who had clearly already seen it (as you say, it's a grower), but very funny. I like how the plot meanders but builds: the movie is well paced by virtue of each plot point's being a direct result of the previous plot point.

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

My friends keep wanting to play the Big Lebowski game with me, which involves smoking a joint and/or drinking a Caucasian whenever the Dude does. I'm not one for either activity, besides which it's damn near impossible to make it through the entire movie conscious that way, as they've proven during previous attempts. Still, as movie drinking games go, it's one of the more amusing ones just for its being ridiculous.
