Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Only if you spell it right.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

I thought there were only three, Aimee! Do tell!

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

John (and Joan) definitely count, I'd say.

Do you think it makes a difference, between men/boys and women/girls? Does one gender have it easier than the other, transition-wise? I think puberty tends to be a lot more dramatic among boys than girls, which would jeapordize the sales potential of a cute wittle face. And somehow, all these new "tween" stars -- now like 17 or something -- have all been girls.

The Parent Trap: Hawaiian Honeymoon

t shakes head in shame

I haven't seen it, but it's there.

I would actually say it's cause of Disney she's still eating. They owned her as a child and her dad was an actor so she got some pretty sweet deals. I think she's still making money on "Let's Get Together" and her "albums".

Let's get together, yeah yeah yeah...

Who the hell are you talking to, crazy woman?

Dana Plato says no.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

And somehow, all these new "tween" stars -- now like 17 or something -- have all been girls.

Because no one but me cares when Frankie Muniz turns legal. There's nowhere near the same sexpot market for boys. Who'll have a more decent career in 10 years, Frankie or Hilary Duff? Hard to tell.

I also think that the chicks will "lose" their looks later on -- there's maybe a late-20s gauntlet they need to pass. The boys -- suddenly you look over and Leonardo is not the beauty he was in R+J and he needs to re-solidify himself.

Saw the trailer for The Aviator when we saw Spidey.

I'm thinking that might do it.

Yum.
