Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Because she is awesome and all of her efforts should be supported.

Up with the sun

Interesting essay on Donnie Darko over at Roger Ebert's site, by his webmaster: [link]

The thesis is basically as described in this quote:

You can hardly blame Donnie for feeling that his life has become a cosmic joke, and that he is the butt. And the punchline is: He's sexually fixated on his older sister and can't admit it -- even to himself.

I've seen that movie about three times, and I've never gotten a sense Donnie was attracted to Elizabeth, even in the looking-at-linoleum sense. Anyone else?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

He had a sister?

Yes, played by his sister.

And his little dancing sister. I hope she's not the one he's supposed to be attracted to.

And his little dancing sister.

Played by The Ring's terribly adorable and talented Daveigh Chase, who also voiced the young girl in the English translation of Spirited Away, and Lilo in Lilo & Stitch.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I definitely didn't. Did he assume that bickering siblings wouldn't use the word "fuck" in an argument unless they secretly wanted to? Calling Dr. Freud...

Isn't she some kind of superheroine in Taxi ? Can't she like control taxis with her mind or something? I mean, why else would anyone go see that movie?

I went for Christian Kane, and chose not to walk out because Queen Latifah was really good.

Johnny Depp as Wonka.
