I want to see Garden State but so far it looks like it's not playing here -- just in a few theatres in Chicago and the north 'burbs.

Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned
A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
is way too old for his repertoire of "I am only a high school boy and totally boggled by this big world" tricks
That's the key. I liked it in Pleasantville, but it got really, really old (as did he) by Spider-Man 2.
He did a good job in Ride with the Devil, portraying a kid aged too quickly by horrors in the Civil War.
I'm excited to see Garden State despite a pretty disgusting story I read in a British pub. this morning (I love me some www.google.news, but sorry, lost the link).
Apparently, filming was kicked out of a particular suburban house when the resident found a loaf of human excrement in the bathtub. The story used a much more colorful word.
If a movie crew asks to use your house/office/barn? Run, do not walk away from the deal. I've never heard a good story in the aftermath.
Of course, crew behavior ≠ movie quality.
Good Will Hunting used space in my mother's church, paid them a ton of money, and were, apparently, lovely. t /anecdotal evidence
"turd"
eta: I'm glad to hear the anecdotal evidence Jesse, cuz I want to imagine it's a great experience.
etaa: There is something very wonky about the femalefirst site. It makes my browser have emotional problems. But, yes, that was the source of the story, except that this morning, both the text and the headline featured the word 'turd'.
I'm going to see The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement tommorrow night. Am also far more excited about it than a 23 year old has a right to be. That is all.
I'm jealous of Lilty. I'll be driving to Dallas tomorrow, and will not get to see the movie.
Loved the first one. Have read all five of the books.
t /teenage girl
(I'm lying. The tag never closes. Despite both individual words being incorrect descriptions of me.)
Go on wichyur bad teenage girl-self Nova!
Tonight I watched Belizaire the Cajun for the first time in many years. I just love it.
Yes, the production values are pretty much that of your summer camp home movies and there are far, far too many boom shots but, hey. Armand Assante is the acme of charm. Will Paxton looks about 18. And I learned things about Acadian history I never knew.
Just love it.
On the other hand? The Mayor of Casterbridge. Dead, wicked, bloody boring. But I have an unwholesome crush on Ciaran Hinds brewing, so it was an indulgence. I shoulda known though...Thomas Hardy. Not know for laugh fests or happy endings. Rather, lots and lots of lies and manipulations.
I think I'll go dream of Belizaire.
