Hmm. Hot cardboard...
Nope. Does nuthin' for me.
I suspect you (and I) weren't the target audience they were aiming her at. However, I don't think I can complain too loudly about this aspect, as the first movie had Stephen Dorff lounging around without a shirt all the time for no discernible reason. Not to mention a confrontation scene with Udo Kier that made the Angel/Lindsey subtext look subtle in comparison.
Sean, appreciate the recommendation (now I remember) based on my wanting to get into the medieval vibe.
Trust me, there were parts of that movie that bothered me greatly. But you know, medieval times? Not pretty. This way you get all the bases covered.
Which is, interestingly, the exact point he's making now.
Medieval times = ugly.
Now? Not so different. (He uses the examples of genocide in Africa and millions of innocents slaughtered in Eastern Europe.)
So, yeah. Gritty.

You mean that stuff wasn't artistic intergrity? I coulda sworn it was.
I was definitely the target audience for those scenes. mmmm.
Sean,
As we get further into the commentary, Verhoeven is adding a lot of medieval daily living details. I just bought Daily Life in Medieval Times to read up on these tidbits. Now I can't just turn off the picture and type up the factoids. So. Useful!
Okay, I really need to go to bed.
Ciao, all.
My sister watched Psycho for the first time tonight. She's huddled in a ball underneath her covers with the lights on and door open, asleep.
Douglas Adams' family is going to be in the Hitchhiker movie.
The article also says that the movie comes out next April - isn't that when the DBM is scheduled for release too?
