Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Heh. I don't think it's that big a spoiler.

That's what I meant, actually -- it's something of no consequence to the plot that almost everyone already knows about.

The remake dispenses with solitaire altogether, and uses a different verbal trigger.

(Whitefonted even though it's given away in the trailer because it is a very nice reveal moment.)

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I lurve lurve lurve the original Manchurian Candidate. Can't wait to see the sequel. I'm even planning on getting a babysitter and seeing it in the theater.

Really, it's probably not a spoiler at all.

Well, not once you've already seen the movie.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I had assumed as much, Jessica. Need to keep it fun for those who saw the first version.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

So....I should see the first one before going to see the Denzel one?

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

It's pretty great, Steph, in that Cold War era kind of way.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I vote seeing the original second, just on the principle that the original is always better, AND I think the re-make is going to be pretty darn good, so I wouldn't want to be sitting there comparing it unfavorably. You know what I'm saying?

It! Them! Who can tell the difference?

Heh. Pronouns were scarier back then.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I selfishly vote no, because I really want to hear the reaction of someone seeing the story for the first time, set in the modern era.

I vote seeing the original second, just on the principle that the original is always better

Even Ocean's Eleven?

Shit's all sorts of different now.

"Revenge of the Sith."

Which, if you have a lisp, could be taken as being about Leia finally smacking Luke around, but good.
