Ah, Collateral makes me crazy. Sounds like a good concept, I like watching Mann's movies (he has the best soundtracks), and I really dislike the two stars.

It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. I've been seeing ads for Collateral but have heard not a word. I tend to like Michael Mann, just for how he puts a movie together; but he can also go way over the top with a large cast all of whom need to die. (I mean, the cast is usually good people, but the characters are too many and too baroque.) So it's a tossup, but I think I'll probably see it.
The premise is basically a two-character study, with supporting cast, so this may not be an issue.
Anybody else flash back to the Bart Conner masterpiece GYMkata?
I feel I must defend Bart's honor by pointing out that it was his longtime rival Kurt Thomas who starred in this piece of limburger. Conner's foray into acting was a bit part in RAD playing a stuck-up pro cyclist who sneered at the protagonist. Not a public embarrassment the way Thomas' effort was, though I think it convinced Bart to stick to gymnastics.
And it looks like most of the supporting cast will be dying, as Cruise's plan is to kill them.
This bodes ill, since like our bon bon, I happen to loathe both of those actors.
I saw a trailer for it, and all I could think was "What's with his *hair*? Is he *trying* to look like Richard Gere?"
t smacks forehead *That's* who he reminded me of.

Maybe the $100 million lawsuit market hasn't been as profitable as he'd like, and he's expanding into gerbil rumors.
I'm actually excited for Collateral -- I think Tom Cruise can be eminently watchable as long as he doesn't try to grin, laugh, or cry, and this character doesn't seem like he'll be doing any of those things.
I can deal with Jerry Maguire Tom Cruise, and I've oft stated my love for Eyes Wide Shut. Can't deal so much with "intense" TC. He couldn't kill a fly without having two lawyers and Pat Kingsley involved.
The preview for Collateral makes it look like there'd be plenty of opportunity for Cruise to grin or laugh maniacally. Since he's supposed to play a psychopath, the scary teeth at least would be in character.
