The Minearverse 3: The Network Is a Harsh Mistress

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

Again, from Yahoo TV's Daily Picks:

...executive produced by Tim Minear ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Wonderfalls"),...

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

They've got two out of three ME shows to get it right, and they ONLY pick the wrong one? Le sigh. @@

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Ft. Worth S-T didn't give it a good review (C+), but also complained about "just another cop show"ness. To counter this, however, I give you Ms. Ryan of the Tribune

Still, just as Fox's "House" seemed somewhat derivative of other medical shows at first, only to develop into an unpredictable treat, "The Inside" may just evolve into something other than yet another cop-shop drama.

What is even happening?

that was some amusing stuff. you know what i really wish i had done when all of those flamewars were going on? saved the boards! it's nice to be nostalgic about it, but i'd love to go back and read that stuff now. just think of the hindsight involved!
I know it. I think I copied and pasted one of the posts somewhere, but not all of it. I seem to recall that in at least the really big one, she edited some of her posts where she was really awful (imo) to Denise.

Hey! I don't even know where the beta is !

The Fuselage board (Lost) is a companion to it--run by the same folks, but it is an official or semi-official board, I think.

Art Crawl!!!

Liked the teaser. And they show the credits -- which is kind of funny.

Plus the yahoo timer thingy is funky -- the seconds go to 60 before they switch the minute.

It would be fun if they put the teaser for the next episode up on the official website the day after the show -- like they were doing for Veronica Mars at the end of this season.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Here's a review from the Chicago Tribune (registration required I think):

There are some spoilery bits. Overall, the message is, "Do we need another cop drama? Yes, if it's done well."

Still, just as Fox's "House" seemed somewhat derivative of other medical shows at first, only to develop into an unpredictable treat, "The Inside" may just evolve into something other than yet another cop-shop drama.

"This is a show about damaged people . . . and about how their damage sometimes makes them especially suited to the work they do," Minear wrote on "The Inside's" official Web site.

It's a brave concept, and the show may yet live up to that audacious idea.

tends to use overly long sentences

It seems like any comparison to House is a Good Thing. Speaking as someone who enjoys that show--and it gets ratings like whoa, doesn't it?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

it gets ratings like whoa, doesn't it?

It did once American Idol was its lead-in.
