Mal: Okay. She won't be winning any beauty contests anytime soon. But she is solid. Ship like this, be with ya 'til the day you die. Zoe: 'Cause it's a deathtrap.

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Well, that doesn't make any sense, because if there's only one victim then the perp isn't a serial killer right?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yup, Vortex. She could have been looking at fifteen out of sixteen being female. Who knows?

Wait ... we will. Soon.

Cindy -- I think Allyson called SVU Crimes Against Vaginas, not Crimes Against Those With Vaginas -- the distinction is probably a big one for her. And for me, too.

What is even happening?

Gotcha, ita. I don't think it's that big a difference for me, honestly, if victims are overwhelmingly female. I understand that's also often a serial killer thing. There are female serial killers, but more of them are male and I *think* more of the male serial killers have a thing for killing women. I'm just tired of it.

But, as Amatangelo started out by saying, Adam Baldwin? Tim Minear? I'm pretty much showing up. I actually shouldn't have clicked the link to that article. I'd decided to stop reading about it and res ipsa loquitur.

I am so fucking tired of sexual crimes against women being used as shorthand for the ultimate let's-form-a-posse-and-ride-em-down crime. That's my problem with SVU -- the S was supposed to be for special, but might as well have been for sexual.

I don't mind a woman being a woman. I get annoyed with each woman being a pussy.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

No big shocker that a group that deals with serial criminals is going to be facing mostly men who target women. Sure, I don't expect 100% reality from any TV show, but if half the perps were women? I'd expect the storyline to involve an alien race or something.

"Either it's murder, or this library has a very strict overdue policy."

Ita: Or one killer / week.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That's my problem with SVU -- the S was supposed to be for special, but might as well have been for sexual.

But "In New York City, sexually-based offenses are considered especially heinous." It's not like they aren't up front with it.

I'm not claiming to have been conned into watching, or anything. Just that...this week, a woman is raped, and Olivia feels terrible about it, because she's a child of rape. Next week, a teenaged girl will be raped, and the guy will feel awful, because he has daughters. Lather, rinse, repeat, toss in the odd homosexual freakery, and then you're golden.

Or ... BORING.

I've alsoe heard it called "L&O: Rape Is Bad"

That's about all it was for me. Got old for me pretty quickly.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

May I tag?

I have thoughts on The Inside and Rebecca's peril. It did give me pause. I think this is ultimately because she's green, and she'll learn and get better. What's interesting to me is that even when Rebecca is tied to the railroad track, she's still strong.

I just have had the benefit of seeing them all laid out, so I know she's not always playing Dawn.

What is even happening?

I watched the SVU Premiere. I never watched again, and I think I got turned off of regular L&O at the same time. By chance, did SVU premiere the same year that Jesse L. Martin started on L&O?
