The pilot is available, but it was released separately. I guess different entities owned the rights or something.

The Minearverse 3: The Network Is a Harsh Mistress
[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.
Ah. Ok then.
Oh yeah. I think Matt has cited this scene as one of the scariest in TV history.
Actually, the one I cited as such was the one where Ronette Pulaski wakes up and has all those strobed flashbacks to Bob beating her at the freight car - probably the scariest thing I'd ever seen until those hints of Monkey'sPaw!Joyce in "Forever." But the series had more than its fair share of creepitude, that's for sure.
A friend of mine who's a lawyer in Little Rock once ended up on a plane with the "Bob" actor - turns out he's a film/tv production guy that Lynch drafted for work in front of the cameras.
Frank Silva (Bob) was actually working as a set dresser on the pilot. Lynch made a joke about getting him in a shot, Silva deadpanned, "Okay," and Bob was born.
where whosit gets beaten to death by possessed father-guy, smashed into mirrors (I particularly remember that), dragged and slammed from wall to wall.
That was Maddy, the cousin. They filmed all of that with three different actors so nobody would know who the killer was. Poor Sheryl Lee spent a whole day getting thrown around.
...I know way too much Peaks trivia.
What's the Buffy starter dvd set?
Tyron, for the record, played a gun savvy underwear model who inexplicably stayed fully dressed throughout the movie and spent the first half speaking in a faux British accent to impress chicks.
I now really want to see this.
Poor Sheryl Lee spent a whole day getting thrown around.
She gave good victim, that's for sure.
I now really want to see this.
Don't put yourself through the pain - I did so none of you have to. Uwe Boll made it from a videogame about shooting zombies, which is handy since he uses actual sequences from the game itself as transitions between cuts.
OMG, Twin Peaks scared me so much it wasn't even funny. That scene when Maddy got killed, any one with the dreams of the dwarf talking backwards, and especially the movie. I don't know which is scarier, FWWM or Mulholland Drive.
My BF saw Frank Silva in LA way back when (after TP came out). If I saw him in real life I would run screaming for the hills.
Didn't they accidentally catch Frank Silva in a shot while shooting the pilot, and then Lynch decided it was too cool not to use?
Lilty, the Twin Peaks pilot was released as a separate movie in Europe. That's the only version available. Unfortunately, the last ten minutes or so spoil the storyline in the movie version, which is different from the actual pilot. (The difference being just those last ten minutes which were used to wrap some things up.)
So. You need to watch the movie/pilot (which is fantastic, by the way) all the way up to the last ten minutes then STOP. Don't go down into the basement in the end. Then you start watching the regular series.
Or you can gank a pirated copy of the original pilot off eBay or some such.
