Giles: I jump out of the circle, jump back in, and, and, shake my gourd. Buffy: Hey, I think I know this ritual. The ancient shamans were next called upon to do the Hokey-Pokey and to turn themselves around.

The Minearverse 3: The Network Is a Harsh Mistress

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Isn't the separation painful? I'd think nested containers might work better, unless pain is the wellspring of your sarcasm, of course.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

That was bold.

You had me at, "This show is doomed."

And that still makes my head explode. I understand your intent was to slam FOX, but I read it as, "FOX cancels good shows. This is a good show. Ergo, don't bother with it and save your money for the DVD set."

Feels like a food fight. The bully ducked and you hit that nice kid who always offers you a piece of gum in math class with an egg salad sandwich.

Pretty much full time.

You reallt don't notice after the first week, when the screaming starts to taper off.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Just not to fight to save it, for the cynical reasons given.

From an article linked to upthread:

But a hard-core group of "Wonderfalls" fans wouldn't let the show die. They started an Internet campaign to save the show and now it's paying off.

See, sometimes I'm tired and bitter and cynical. Sometimes I even laugh (quietly) at the efforts of Save Our Show! campaigns (well, I didn't want Dark Angel back, okay?). But if it's true they have impact, and positive, I'd never recommend against them. I've even been known to mail a postcard or two.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'd also note the Save Firefly campaign was part of the reason investors decided to back the movie.

Save Farscape also got us the miniseries.

So. Doesn't always save the ongoing network show, but can and has lead to DVD releases/Feature Films/concluding miniseries.

Tim had to bring a petition to FOX to help convince them that DVDs would sell.

I'm probably coming off as a humorless bitch.

Everyone knows I'm a very funny bitch.

Pretty much full time.

Actually my intent was to puzzle out some reason why FOX would act the way they do and to get a funny column out of it.

I also hoped that praising the show to the skies -- which I did, sight unseen, on faith -- would get people interested enough to look into it. It grew out of a conversation I was having last week with a coworker to whom I'd loaned my "Firefly" set. "You know, it's a lot easier to recommend a show when you can just hand it to somebody." That spawned the notion that this could be what FOX had in mind all along, and there I went.

Trust my rage

Welcome, Chris. Maybe we will make a permanent buffista out of you yet.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Isn't the separation painful?

Well, I'd think the separation of one ball from the other would be somewhat less painful than their initial detachment from the torso, but the lack of Y-chromosome regrettably prevents me from saying anything further with real authority.
