Hey, I've been in a firefight before! Well, I was in a fire. Actually, I was fired from a fry-cook opportunity. I can handle myself.

The Minearverse 3: The Network Is a Harsh Mistress

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

You do know they nicknamed the prison "Emerald City" on Oz, right? I mean, it was actually the Oswald Correctional Facility or somesuch, but they had the two nicknames to tie into the show title.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Oh, so it was an O.C. reference? Huh. I stand corrected.

Well, only ita knows for sure, but "Welcome to the O. C., bitch!" is pretty much the humorous catchphrase of the show.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Matt is right. Sadly, I wondered why msbelle brought up Oz. Sure, the wee werewolf is the little black dress of imaginary boyfriends, but even the little black dress doesn't go everywhere.

Pretty much full time.

How do! Writer of the article in question.

Yup, I was going for sarcasm. I may not have done as well as I'd hoped, but then this was the fifth total rewrite after the first four versions would probably have qualified for vicious slander against a network and I was trying to keep it light (and under 700 words).

For years now FOX has confused me. It supports some shows without qualification and lets other drop without a sound. Gail Berman apparently went to bat for "Arrested Development," which still hasn't pulled in big numbers, yet they let shows like "Wonderfalls" vanish swiftly and silently into the night. Also into huge DVD sales. I was just using my humor column to speculate what their reasons might be. Aside from corporate ADD, that is.

I did mispell Mr. Minear's name, and for that I hang my head. It's been fixed.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Wow, Chris, that's very bold of you to come here, with your balls in danger and all.

I will hang my head in solidarity with you, Chris, for I didn't notice the mispelling. I am a bad fan. I wouldn't blow flies off a horse's rump I'm such a bad fan.

That said, I did enjoy you're article and thought you were spot on about FOX being a bunch of horses asses. Kind of makes me glad I'm a bad fan.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Chris, thanks for dropping by to clarify your intentions.

Ya know, it would have been nice if Tim's deal were with whichever company that owns ABC or any of the cable outlet instead of FOX. At least, I think "All Reality TV, All The Time!!" trend is dying out, what with the success of scripted shows and the ratings of the blockbuster reality shows being on the wane this season. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, yo.

Do we know for certain The Inside (or whatever its name is to be) will be scheduled on Friday night? 'Cause what with Joan, the two Stargate shows and now, Battlestar Galactica, Friday is all booked-up on my TiVo.

JenP - Feb 02, 2005 2:19:38 pm PST #4373 of 10001

I think the real question here is, how do you prounouce Tim's name?

I think your frustration with Fox came through fine. I think you are not alone in that. I know I wish I had control of all the Nielsen boxes.

Pretty much full time.

Ha! I laugh at danger! Also, as a humor columnist my balls are kept in hermetically sealed Tupperware containers in a secret underground vault. One in each, for redundancy.

Plus I read Allyson's comments on my article at Whedonesque and got to respond to her there. Dunno if I convinced her - I hope so - but even my sarcastic plea wasn't for people not to watch it. Just not to fight to save it, for the cynical reasons given. Obviously I wasn't as good with the funny as I'd hoped.
