The Minearverse 3: The Network Is a Harsh Mistress

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

That would explain it. Thanks Allyson. I was just hoping for commentaries for the blind. Oh well.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I was just hoping for commentaries for the blind.

Heh. You know, he says that, but I really loved the "Billy" commentary, and the "Lullaby" one gave a lot of great insights into directing.

I was fine when existence had no meaning. Meaninglessness in a universe that has no meaning -- that I get. But meaninglessness in a universe with meaning? What does that mean?

There's an mp3 version of the Holland/Finneran commentary here. Katie's more audible in that one.

Also, I just updated the site with some details about promoting the DVDs. If anyone here has original ideas, I'm sure the woman managing online promotions would be pleased.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

What's she gonna do for me? HUH? HUH?

Because I got ideas. Oh yes. I have MANY IDEAS.

She might give you a free DVD set! Other than that, there's... uh, the warm fuzzy feeling you get from knowing you're helping promote a great show and making a nice lady's job easier?

...yeah, I got nothing.

I got DVDs. What I really need is a new loveseat. Or I'll take a used one if she wants to drop one off at my place.

I can't even.

What about a futon? I hear there's this one with a really interesting provenance floating around.

It's in my apartment. And it's gotta go.

Maybe she'll swap.

Cranberry, why not do a script giveaway at your site? I'm sure Bryan and/or Tim will send a couple of signed scripts your way, and you can judge an LJ icon contest (that advertises the DVDs), and give scripts to the winners.

Then you can put the best ones up for grabs for people's LJs.

Firefly has done a lovely job of promoting the DVDs by donating hundreds of copies to the armed forces.

You could do the same sort of promotion and have DVDs donated to women's shelters.

Try writing to Andy Partridge and get a boxed set signed as well, and do a giveaway.

I did a contest once where people had to write a short story using all the titles of Fury's episodes, and the winners got to attend an online writers' workshop with him.

You could do the same thing and giveaway an autographed box set.

Make sure you post it to all the relevant websites, including the Firefly sites. You'd do well to get a signed script from Jewel, as well.

It's a bit of work, but you can farm out pieces to trusted friends. It all helps promote the DVDs in the same grassrootsy way that we promoted the show.
