According to the Amazon web site, my DVDs have been delivered. "Smile Time" tonight!
'Serenity'
Angel 5: Is That It? Am I Done?
[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
Crap. 20 minutes into 'A Hole in the World' and I'm already sniffly. I'm such a sap.
ETA: Big old blubbering mess now. And it's not even a huge dose of Fred love- it's Wes. I just LOOK at the man's face throughout that entire episode and fricken weep.
"There's a hole in the world. You'd think we would have noticed."
And Hubby is taping Stargate and Battlestar Galactica and won't relinquish the TV!
The endgame's all kinds of hurty. Can't I just go back to Smile Time now?
Ooh, world of only shrimp! Heh. "I tired of that one quickly."
"There's a hole in the world. You'd think we would have noticed."
That line kills me, and I can't even fully understand why. But it does.
I can't even fully understand why
For me, part of it is the two of them realizing they're not going to save the day, the damsel is going to die, and they've gone to all that trouble for absolutely nothing.
Hee! I love the Eve/Harmony/Lorne scream when AB puts his hand through the lawyer dude.
That line kills me, and I can't even fully understand why. But it does.
That's my favorite bit in the entire episode. It's such an evocative scene and JM delivered the line perfectly. I remember, there was quite a bit of discussion about the meaning of the line after the episode had aired; how it represents a loss so deep that it's almost unknowable; the loss of innocence, loss of Fred, and the Connor-shaped hole in everybody's memory. I think "A Hole in the World" and "Shells" are up there with "5x5"/"Sanctuary" and "Loyalty"/"Sleep Tight" as my favorite set of episodes in the entire run of Angel.
"Loyalty"/"Sleep Tight"
"Sleep Tight" is so fantastic. Best Mexican standoff EVAR.
I can't even bear to watch "Hole in the World" again. Not yet. I didn't even like Fred that much, but that she was a marvelous person dying for no reason at all, and knowing herself to be dying... too painful.
