Wash: Well, I wash my hands of it. It's a hopeless case. I'll read a nice poem at the funeral. Something with imagery. Zoe: You could lock the door and keep the power-hungry maniac at bay. Wash: Oh, no, I'm starting to like this poetry idea now. Here lies my beloved Zoe, my autumn flower, somewhat less attractive now she's all corpsified and gross...

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

That line kills me, and I can't even fully understand why. But it does.

That's my favorite bit in the entire episode. It's such an evocative scene and JM delivered the line perfectly. I remember, there was quite a bit of discussion about the meaning of the line after the episode had aired; how it represents a loss so deep that it's almost unknowable; the loss of innocence, loss of Fred, and the Connor-shaped hole in everybody's memory. I think "A Hole in the World" and "Shells" are up there with "5x5"/"Sanctuary" and "Loyalty"/"Sleep Tight" as my favorite set of episodes in the entire run of Angel.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

"Loyalty"/"Sleep Tight"

"Sleep Tight" is so fantastic. Best Mexican standoff EVAR.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I can't even bear to watch "Hole in the World" again. Not yet. I didn't even like Fred that much, but that she was a marvelous person dying for no reason at all, and knowing herself to be dying... too painful.

The evil is this way?

It was strange to watch it with the commentary (Joss, Amy & Alexis). They kept not commentating and instead got caught up watching the scenes.

My DVDs came!! My collection is complete.

I opened the flip-out case to see Fred on the left and Illyria on the right. Neat, but spoilery much?

Just watched "Smile Time"! Am now earwormed with the Self-Esteem song. And the Smile Time theme.

"You're a wee, little puppet man!"

"You're cute!"
"You're fired."

The evil is this way?

Was there no commentary for "Smile Time"?

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Was there no commentary for "Smile Time"?

No, but there is a featurette, called "Hey, Kids, It's Smile Time!" on the 1st disc. During the interview with Puppet!Angel, he says that he got the gig because he looks just like David Boreanaz.

The evil is this way?

Well, that's something. I'll play that tonight.

I haven't listened to any of the commentaries on any of the discs. Though I've watched a couple of the featurettes. Hearing AD's real voice is very jarring. I noticed that JM isn't listed in the people doing commentaries.
