Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it like it was up to you—the world in balance—'cause you never know when it is.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Scrubs got through by the skin of its teeth. But old sitcoms are disappearing, and precious few new ones being picked up.

Punishingly Intricate

I love Scrubs when I watch it but I can almost never remember to.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I hate sitcoms. I hate laugh tracks. I hate the formula of, "husband did something stupid, tries to hide stupidity from wife who is entirely too good looking to have married the stupid and poor slob, husband gets caught, wife gives Barney-esque speech about sharing and caring, show ends with husband repeating behavior in a more sneaky way."

The fuck?

Lots of sitcoms don't have that formula, though, Allyson.

It helps to start out with no married couples (although not needed).

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

The only currently airing domestic sitcom I can think of that doesn't follow that formula is Arrested Development.

When I do watch sitcoms, I tend to prefer the workplace ones, which generally rely on funnier stereotypes.

Malcolm in the Middle. Yeah, the husband does stupid things he tries to hide, but so does everyone else on the show, and there's very little caring and sharing. Plus, no laugh track.

Do single-parent family sitcoms count as domestic? Because that expands the pool to include shows like Two And A Half Men.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

The Bernie Mac Show is pretty funny, the couple times I've seen it.
