The only currently airing domestic sitcom I can think of that doesn't follow that formula is Arrested Development.
When I do watch sitcoms, I tend to prefer the workplace ones, which generally rely on funnier stereotypes.

Malcolm in the Middle. Yeah, the husband does stupid things he tries to hide, but so does everyone else on the show, and there's very little caring and sharing. Plus, no laugh track.

Networks have sports, the same old sitcoms, and increasingly sleazy reality programming.
When I was watching the finals last night I saw a commercial for a show called, "Wife Swap." And then another for something else called, "Desperate Housewives." It was somewhat disturbing to me.

Has anyone seen the ads for the new sitcom on Fox? The premise is that two black guys move to the suburbs. Wacky, huh? Wait, it gets better: their mom is there to put a stop to their wacky hijinks.
