I was fine when existence had no meaning. Meaninglessness in a universe that has no meaning -- that I get. But meaninglessness in a universe with meaning? What does that mean?

Thanks... yeah, that was the one that threw me. It's all cleared up now though, right? Finale spoilers here = good, finale spoilers on my board = bad.

I saw Barrel Bear and Totem Mole today, too. I was sort of disoriented by Barrel Bear because it was obviously an earlier episode, but still didn't seem to fit anywhere in particular. I liked it better than Totem Mole, though. I can't explain why, but TM felt kind of "off" to me, much like Safety Canary did. I enjoyed it more on paper.

Barrel Bear did not cause the full on hate for me that it did for Allyson. But it was weird. Kinda out of charactery.... like too zany send up.

Exactly -- Mahandra, in particular, seemed really out of character. I know she was drunk and so can forgive her for trying to help an old lady go over the falls in a barrel, but I don't understand why she supported her in the first place, after she found out her fame was a lie.

I don't think Eric would help her steal that barrel from the real "heroine," either -- he seems too into truth and nobility for that.

except for when he's being a dick and cruel, that is.

True enough. Okay, I amend my statement to "he seemed too into truth and nobility in those earlier episodes for that." Plus he wanted to impress Jaye, so it seemed odd he'd be working with Mahandra against her.

Hmm. I've never made it through a season unspoiled of Buffy or Angel. I was spoiled ahead of time for the remaining Wonderfalls eps, even though I never touched a script.

I wouldn't call it fairly easy.

Maybe it's different on different boards. The one time I was spoiled for Angel, it was TVGuide that did it, and I cancelled my subscription rather than risk it happening again. Other than that, I lived a spoil-free existence, although sometimes I had to be really quick with the "stop right there!"

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Maybe it's different on different boards.

It's not a board thing -- most of that spoilage came from casual conversations or e-mails or reading the wrong articles offline. Or reading buffistas.org referrer logs.

Very rarely did it happen here.

What is even happening?

But here we have a spoiler thread, and so, Jaye and Eric get together, Heidi-ho leaves town and divorces his sorry ass, Majandra and Aaron come out of the secret affair closet, and the wax lion lives.

Ah. I feel much better now. I need neither the surprise nor the suspense. I need the story.

If you click on the links, Cindy, you'll see there was much more detail upthread, first by Kat, and then by me.

Okay, I have Kat's message marked for reading in about a week. Thanks for the info.
