Did we ever try using persistent MySQL connections? Did it make a difference.
No, we didn't -- but if we need to go deeply into it, we should more neatly take this to BBaBB. Tuning MySQL to make persistence more effective would also lock us out of a shared server.

Should the Angel Spoilers thread be closed, or are we living in hope of movie(s)?
The show just went off the air. I'm in no rush to close any thread, including the Spoilers thread, especially since I know plenty of people enjoy reading the thread post-season and commenting.
At a minimum, we should wait until the finale has aired down under (another 6 weeks or so, I believe).
And there's also the question of the spoiler community; what we might want to do with the thread.

Me too. I realize that there are no more Angel spoilers, ever, but...that's my thread! I need it!
Just noticed that Minearverse is about 100 from needing a new thread. Did we decide on a new title yet?
I thought the BC was for The Network is a Harsh Mistress.
