A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

I'm not sure we need to cut the rest of the benign comedy discussion out of the (potential) thread when the Office isn't threatening to take over.
I definitely agree with this.
The Office
got the most discussion by far, but I also saw posts on
How I Met Your Mother, Scrubs, 30 Rock,
and possibly others. That cross-pollination was actually one of my favorite things about that thread. And, selfishly, since I plan on catching up on/picking up several of those shows soon, I'd really like to be able to discuss them, and the bucket comedy show thread suited my needs pretty much perfectly for that.
Frankly, there's no harm in having a comedy thread, even if its mostly one show. I like the threads as they were.

If we keep the threads, I'll probably pick up a show or two this fall. So even though I only discussed The Office on the comedy thread, I also support keeping it an all-comedy thread. With the possibility of creating one or more dedicated threads if traffic warrants.

I like this, Fred Pete. This is what I'd like to see for The Office/comedies. The half hour comedies have less text per week to discuss. If one breaks away (and that may well be The Office) and proves too much for a bucket thread, we can deal with it, then.
In general, I think that may be my preferred option for how we treat TV, while keeping a check on thread proliferation. Have some sort of general buckets (I think the buckets we had in the experiment need some tweaking though; I don't think they were the platonic threads), and when a show takes over, consider whether it merits a thread of its own, or not.
There may be discussion of Venture Brothers.
VB would be welcome in Boxed Set, methinks that is where we discussed it last time. Maybe.
Before we move past the non-fiction proposal I'd like to ask this. Is the goal for most people to have a place (outside of Natter) for any tv show you can think of?
Not explicitly, no. But it's an interesting question. What
do
people think specifically should stay in Natter?
(Personally, I'd first nominate Daily Show and Colbert and shows of that ilk, especially since there seems to be some confusion over them in the first place.)
