Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

but the county clerks office is probably better.

Yeah, I think I linked to that number yesterday.... lemme see if I can find it.

eta: It's the Register of Deeds office. I have the page open on my laptop - if anyone wants it I'll post the link here.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

That's what Veronica Mars would do. She might use a Swedish accent, and call herself "Inga," though.

It is Wednesday, January 3, 2007, and surprise! I still love Cindy.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

And the name is Guy Straley? I only ask because a cursory look shows both his e-mail and that phone number to be from the same provider. I sincerely doubt that anyone would go so far as to have their phone and Internet service under a false name.

There is no phone number associated with the address or with the name in Wisconsin according to my research.

Tell them you're was afraid you've been the victim of a cruel practical joke, because someone is telling you a friend is dead, but you've seen messages from that person at least two weeks after the supposed death, and now you're having trouble contacting him. You could ask if they could please confirm if they have any deaths reports for Guy Straley, of Cameron, on or around December 17.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

Yeah, there is just the phone number given with the domain registration of tvtropes.org. Which is the number he gave me. Which I did a reverse lookup on yesterday, and got confusing results.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

That's what Veronica Mars would do. She might use a Swedish accent, and call herself "Inga," though.

I was SO thinking that last night!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It's the DJ stuff that puts him Over The Top.

If Guy Straley is Gus and is Dead, I want to know so I can mourn him properly. But to do that, I'm going to need the questions answered, first.

Barron County Register of Deeds: [link]

I'm planning on calling at lunch, unless someone else can do the Veronica Mars thing better (I'm not the greatest actor).

eta: This is the official office that deals with death certificates for the County.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I just found the number for the medical examiner for Barron County, but the county clerks office is probably better.

The medical examiner might not be involved, because it probably would have been an attended death, i.e., a death with medical personnel present. If it was a death. These things are hard to phrase. I think English needs an improbable mood as an auxiliary to the subjunctive.

eta: The sheriff's office could be able to confirm or deny the unexpected house guest story.
