Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Natter 46: CHEMISTRY SMACKDOWN!

I'm totally in!

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

According to that link, anyway, nickel is not in the platinum group metals.

Huh. It ought to be. It's in the same column (which is Mendeleev's definition of a group) as palladium and platinum, and it's properties are very similar to the other two. (All three are used as hydrogenation catalysts, for example.)

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

From Wikipedia:

The six platinum metals are: ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium, and platinum.

Take that, Nickel!

(Actually, I'm very rusty on my periodic table, so I'm just googling....)

I kind of like this one. But I'm weird that way.

Yeah, I read the same article. It seems like it's more because they're found together in mineral deposits rather than just for similarity of properties. They're completely ignoring poor old nickel, not to mention cobalt and iron. Pillocks.
