I just read both whenever I see a new message.
Doesn't really matter to me how the news gets disseminated, as long as it does.
A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

I always read Beep Me, because the goings on in people's lives is something I care about, even if pressed for time and skipping the board like a mad thing.
If pressed for time, I don't read Press.
I dig the separation.
Right: Beep Me and COMM when you're pressed for time.
I tend to read both BM and Press, because I only read/post in one actual thread, so I've generally got the time. Besides, even when not actively involved, there are a lot of people I love here and I want to know what I've missed.
Like Plei, I like the separation - but there are times when it's tricky to know which thread is appropriate. If I have a new book coming out and am throwing a Halloween party to celebrate it, it's personal to me on the business aspect, but I'm inviting board members. So there's often overlap and as a result, I've often not posted in either place, and taken it to mass email instead.
Any thoughts on Tom's other observation:
no posts in Sang Sacre in 6 months
????
So what?
Tom brought it up. I assume he wanted to know people's thought on closing it.
Of course assuming is risky.
It seemed a shame for Beep Me/Press to get all the discussion.
"Beep Me is for any personal news, and Press is anything that's of interest to Buffistas at large" is how I've always thought of it. But I have to say it really doesn't bother me when stuff gets posted in the wrong thread, since I read both anyway, and they're both really low-volume.
This. Also doesn't matter to me if they are one or separate.
I read both. If you're pressed for time, unifying the threads is a one-click operation versus two... and really, there's rarely more than two or three posts total between the threads. In my head the threads are two halves of a virtual "announcements" thread. I get the distinction, but for me it doesn't serve much purpose separating the two.
I got nuthin on Sang Sacre.
When you mention Sang Sacre, the shadowy denizens stir in their slumbers, shake their shaggy heads, creep out of hiding, and bay at the moon in strange tellings. Then they slink back into the darkness, awaiting the next call.
