Not in here.
I'll get on it.
sunnydale_salvage "If the Apocalypse Comes, Beep Me" Apr 25, 2006 1:05:35 am PDT should probably go away, possibly accompanied by a note from a stompy indicating that EBay auctions are not considered to be an appropriate topic for Beep Me.
No banning necessary yet, but a little friendly education with a firm pointer to the Founding Documents wouldn't go amiss, I suspect.
Are you suggesting it be moved to press?
The person seemed polite enough. It looks like Press, maybe.
If this were Allyson announcing a charity auction specifically for fandom, I would expect to see it in Press. This smells to me like a different sort of animal.
To be honest, I'm less interested in where it winds up than I am in not having commercials for unknown people's EBay auctions appear in Beep Me. I am not wedded to this position -- if other people like it, I will suck it up and scroll past.
eta: Truly spooooooky cross-post with Allyson. Hi, Allyson! Please don't think I meant to single you out; you were the person who came to mind when i thought of auctions for good causes.
It pinged me, too, Karl. Not so much as "Hey, I'm coming here to hang out!" so much as, "Come buy my shit."
I think it belongs in Press, too. And while I agree with Cashmere's assessment, I don't consider him a soulless spammer.
I think that such posts are OK so long as they are polite and infrequent. If we start getting a lot of them, then we can discuss a formal rule.
