"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I guess I'm having nightmares of Herc at AICN linking to us after seeing it at Whedonesque and then having an assload of talkback shitheads pouring into Minearverse acting like fools.

I was going to say -- even if we could do anything about it, hasn't this already happened once or twice (on a small scale)? And isn't Minearverse newbie spillover our biggest source of new blood in the past 2 years?

If Tim or Joss or any user doesn't know that this is a public and quoteable space, maybe someone can find a video file of that TV Guide Channel news bit that mentioned us by name (when Firefly was cancelled) as a news source. Cause, I don't expect any influx bigger or more surprising than that one.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

No need for the admonishment, Nutty. I am aware of how the internets work.

I would offer that public and quotable is on a nuclear scale when posted at Whedonesque, compared to say, a Livejournal.

My opinion on this, I realize, is colored by biases developed at the Bronze, an irrational sense of protectiveness.

Got Life - Feb 12, 2006 9:39:25 am PST #6347 of 10001
Life is eternal, Love is immortal, and death is only an illusion.

I am a newbie/lurker for about a year now, So not sure where my opinion falls.

But, I have to say the reason this board is so welcoming and has the atmospere it does is because it is almost like the"grown-up board". A real life place with so many people having different views, but figuring out how to to take the talk to another level.

People here, respect each other and always seem to remember these were tv shows and this stuff is people's lives and we are nothing but fans. There is something very cool about talking to everyone here without the pretense of waiting for Tim to join in. If he does he does, If he is gone for awhile again, the same people keep conversing.Everywhere else that is forgotten and opinions launch full on characters wars, something many boards are having problems with. I fear the invasion of people looking to push their opinions on certain subjects just because of who posts here, like what occasionly happens over at Whedonisque.

I guess my opinion would be to keep unlinkable. Whedonisque has to close registration because of server trouble , it would suck if that happened here because tons of people did it just to try and talk in one thread. There are so many other threads here to get lost and confused in. People know what Buffista's is, they will come if they have the need, but non-linkage will keep the ones out with an agenda or who just want to cause troll trouble.

okay back to lurking and reading.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

It's nice that we haven't been linked to directly recently by Whedonesque posters. But all it is is nice.

On a related note, what's with the spate of new registrations over the last couple of days (and by spate, I mean six). Have we been linked to from somewhere?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

There was a mention, but not direct link, on Whedonesque. [link]

Thanks Jesse. I'm months behind in minearverse.

So is it the consensus that Caroline or Simon can switch out the link to Tim's post, given that it shouldn't cause us any technical difficulties?

Jesse - Feb 12, 2006 10:24:47 am PST #6352 of 10001
Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think the consensus is that we appreciate people not linking to us directly, no?

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I think the validity mentioning a post on Whedonesqe is different if Tim is announcing a pilot pickup or green light or cancellation than it is if he is just chatting. I also try to think that people here are usually grown up enough to realize the difference. It's just my opinion though. And my optomism.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

So I'm being needlessly overprotective?

No, Allyson. Your primary concern has been the server, which I actually get - an example is all the other sites I run can cope with a Whedonesque link or a Slashdot link for that matter, but SerenityMovie.org can not - it would collapse in a heap at the moment if linked from a high profile site, and I would cry (or at least, be a little snarkfoo).

If the server should be okay, I'll change the link to any future posts direct to Buffistas (unless it's anything related to Spike).

Pretty obviously there is a judgement call to be made between friendly chatter and PUT ME ON THE INTERNET content. I hope I haven't crossed that line with this link.
