oh bringing up old discussions where we feel wronged. awesome.
Arguably, joking about it is bringing it up, now isn't it?
I'm saying I dislike that. Perhapse we agree.
perhaps I was addressing Kat.
Trudy--I'm afraid I don't understand how the BItch cabal joke is making fun of something serious. The tone of the accusation and the use of the word "cabal" is what people are making fun of, unless I misunderstand. I see you think you are protecting someone or something but I can't figure out who. Teppy and whoever else the post was going on about were the victims in that scenario. And I can't see who has "power" on this board, except the stompies and we gave them that. How does anyone have power over you or anyone? There are folks whose opinions one might pay more attention to, or folks one might think are funnier (You, for example, can be one of the funniest posters here when you are on a roll) and for me funny is great, so you have more power over my enjoyment than a duller poster, but there's no way around that, is there?
My secret cabal ring....well, I can't tell you where it is, because it's secret.
I know where you wear an earring, and I know where you'd wear a nose ring, but being that you're a girl, I have absolutely no idea where you would wear a cabal ring. I guess that's just going to be your little secret.
It's her little pink secret. Ooops. Perhaps I've said too much.
FTR, and really not wanting to start a whole thing, especially as a long-term outsider:
While I don't have any problems with "cabal" jokes as such (love the idea of a decoder ring), I would have to agree that they are jokes about what I remember as a seriously divisive time on the board, one that caused at least one poster to leave. I totally see why someone might reasonably think they are not funny.

Megan, what's your tag from?
From way upthread:
ita: I can't recommend the wayback machine highly enough.
Heh, funny you should mention it. Yeah, the Internet Archive is pretty cool. Did you know it's based in San Francisco? In one of the prettiest parts of a very pretty city? And you know why I haven't been around and posting much for the past few weeks?
Because I just started working there, as of 29 April. Fear my Mighty Wayback Powers!
(I'm doing testing and automation for their web-crawler, for you techie types.)
Karl, you rock. The wayback machine helped me to recover a file I thought was lost forever, from the web page I had in college.
I love the Wayback machine.
