Natter 35: Still not married and that's ok.

Natter 35: You must be this high to Nat.

Also, I like "What happens..."

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

and I'm interested in what that process is.

For thread naming, the process has tended to be: the wittiest thing wins by popular acclaim.

Now it's a bit more: the wittiest thing proposed that a stompy likes wins.

In brief, it's sort of like the court of King Charles II (aka, Restoration Chuck).

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Up with the sun

There are a number of obviously misspelled user names on the list, as well as examples of multiple variations of the same name being registered again and again.

It sounds like some people register variations on their name so that no one else can login with anything too close (e.g., if I registered lyrajane and Lira Jayne). Is that what you're describing? Or is it more like people who are indecisive and register Lira Jayne, then decide that spelling would be annoying and register something else? Or a little of both?

Sorry for the 20 questions ... this stuff just faascinates me.

I changed the code to display thread headers on every page.

Verra nice!

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

My vote is for "What happens in Natter 35 stays in Natter 35". And I also like the thread headers on each page--very handy.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Is that what you're describing?

That could be some of it. It could also be people hitting the submit button before they notice a typo in their username.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Would it be worth deleting some of those half-registrations just to clean out the database? (Say, if someone registers but doesn't complete the validation process for three months, we assume they're not coming back for that account.)

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Now that the thread header appears on every page, the Music thread gets pushed down several inches by its eight-line rhyme. Could it be reformatted or shortened? Unless I'm the only person this bugs.

DXMachina - Apr 28, 2005 1:36:43 pm PDT #4655 of 10001
You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Nah, I was thinking the same thing, and I'm the one who put it there in the first place. Lemmee see what I can do.

(Although I will say that two inches is no big deal when you've got your preferences set to deliver fifty posts at a time.)

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

this bullshit isn't going to consense itself

Oh, if not for the profanity this would make such a good Bureaucracy title...

I too like "What happens in Natter 35 stays in Natter 35."
