Hmm. It's sounds like the finest party I can imagine getting paid to go to.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I see major differences between boring-to-some topics of conversation, and sockpuppets. But I don't want to be cross-posting, so I'll wait for Lightbulbs.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Eh. It turns into a debate and enough people don't find it strange and unsettling -- it'll keep going.

It's a buzzkill when people are bothered by things you enjoy when everyone's supposed to be playing in the same sandbox, sure. But when it's more than a few people, it happens.

I don't think there's anyone here who doesn't scroll past stuff that bores or irritates them. Everyone has a limit, though, and it's not like this hasn't come up before.

Up with the sun

My anti-sockpuppet post was:

Trudy, I think there's a difference between a conversation I'm not interested in (which I scroll by every day) and sockpuppet posts. I think tolerating sockpuppeting opens the door for further posting by personas, which can get harmful quite fast. Aside from that, I think it is obnoxious and borderline cruel no matter who does it and for what reason, and I'm sorry you find it a nice way to pass a Wednesday afternoon.

To which ChiKat asked me:

How do you see it as cruel?

To answer, "I know something you don't know" is, to me, a cruel attitude. "Cruel" might be overstating the case. Nasty, maybe? Childish?

I think there's a big difference between pretending to be someone else and making a joke. I thought the Universe and March were funny

But you knew who both were right away, yes? I think that makes a difference.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

"I know something you don't know"

Meaning that a sockpuppet poster knows who they really are and we don't? Or, specifically, that The Universe persona Knows All as the Universe is wont to do?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I will freely admit, I was suprised when Clovis started posting, because I wasn't the one who created an account for my stuffed Devilbunny.

I'm kinda 'eh' on sockpuppet accounts. I can see where they will be fun for some people, but I'm also well aware that it can come across as 'Not enough people are paying attention to meeeee! Therefore I will create a joke account to post more stuff with!', and that gets annoying very fast.

Our wings are not tired

Don't we have a "God" Account around here somewhere? I think it's even one of the stompies. Has that been cruel?

And the Zombie Robots, and the Ferrets?

I'm with Kristin here. I didn't know who they were (still don't know who March was), but they weren't being mean to anyone, IIRC. Didn't bother me, but it obviously bothers others.
