Hey, I've been in a firefight before! Well, I was in a fire. Actually, I was fired from a fry-cook opportunity. I can handle myself.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Whereas, if Jon's suggestion were up there when I first clicked on this site, I'd think, "hey, these people seem funny and smart."

Huh. I was being sarcastic.

On the other hand, I'm with Liese in that I dislike change. I prefer the archeological model. It's not like you run around Harvard changing all the stone-carved "V" letters into their rounder "U" selves.

t offtopic The Hard Rock Cafe in Boston has engraved above the entrance "MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF ROCK". It's always bugged me way more than it should that they didn't engrave "MASSACHVSETTS INSTITVTE OF ROCK".

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'm not really sure what purpose the description serves. I don't know that it was ever useful to me, personally, so it's hard to say what it ought to be.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I suggest, "A community." That should cover it.

oh oh oh, I meant to say earlier. While I can see why one would not change the building letters, I am positive that Harvard no longer describes itself as a small school for boys to be educated in the classics and Puritan traditions and beliefs.

I guess it depends on whether you see our description as an historical landmark like a stone carved building name, or a marketing description in a pamphlet.

I don't feel I've been around long enough to have too much of a say with something as central as that.

Ditto. But if I were, I'd love to see an open-ended statement like "discussions of BtVS, Angel, Firefly, and their bastard step-cousins, with humor, etc."

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I think we are a community dedicated to birdcalls, homemade cardboard, turnip twaddlers, and putting yarn into a salad shooter and getting back a sweater.

...yes, we really have talked about all of these topics, and they were only the ones that we were talking about to avoid talking about something else. Not even all of them on natter!

...no, I don't have a strong opinion either way, but how often do I get to type "turnip twaddlers" with impunity??

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Or even without impunity?
