And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I don't have a problem with Boxed Set becoming the official Sci-Fi TV thread, but then, I don't have a problem with being spoiled. I'll go with whatever whitefont consensus we come to.

Well, it's bugged me all the way back to the old thread that Stargate wasn't listed even though it was a major source of discussion.

Also, it was known to the folks in the thread, but I had to be chased out of Natter and into that thread when I brought up Stargate, so it's not commonly known.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Good point, ND. The original idea of not listing all the known topics for Boxed Set was to avoid extreme proliferation, but people not already in the know would not, you know, know.

Well, we've had some prolifering, but not a devolution all the way to "general TV thread" -- although "general SF TV thread" is a more debatable notion.

Whither the boxed set??

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

So, why don't we propose that;

1) The thread title be changed to "Box Set, Vol 2: Smallville, Due South, Farscape, Stargate."

(BSG may be still too young to merit a mention in the thread title.)

2) Discussion of non-SF shows, especially those with new episodes with spoiler-font issues, be relegated to Natter.

3) Some kind of spoiler policy for the shows currently being discussed, to be hammered out more in detail later.

We may want to add BSG, it seems to have momentum and it's been picked up for a second season, so it's gonna be around for at least another year.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Vonnie, add Battlestar Galactica to that.

And 2 seems to be the status quo, but, yeah, best to say it outright.

My real spoilerfont issue is with knowing what whitefont is US-aired and what is non-US-aired. So, I'd lean toward either a blackfont when aired NAFDA or the next morning policy.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

So, "Box Set, Vol 2: Smallville, Due South, Farscape, Stargate, BSG"? A little unwieldy, but reflective of what's going on in the thread. I have no issues with that.

I'd lean toward either a blackfont when aired NAFDA or the next morning policy.

I'd favor minimizing white-font as much as possible to avoid confusion, something like NAFDA black-font as the show is being aired, or blackfont after the west-coast airing. If you watch the Friday night Sci-Fi channel shows and are on TiVo-delay, and there are 30 new posts in Box Set thread, then it's likely that the posts are about the new episodes. I don't think it's unreasonable expectation that a poster should take care to stay away from the thread until he/she catches up.

I'm not sure about what to do about non-US-aired downloaded episodes. I guess we can either 1) maintain a hard line and ask everyone not to discuss the non-aired episodes on the thread, or 2) black-font everything that's been aired (instead of white-fonting things willy-nilly) so that anything white-fonted is clearly a spoiler (and labeled as such).

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Also, it was known to the folks in the thread, but I had to be chased out of Natter and into that thread when I brought up Stargate, so it's not commonly known.

Huh. I wish someone had done that for me when I brought up BSG in Natter, as I had no idea it was being discussed elsewhere.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think the current quo is that it's almost the SF TV thread.

Vonnie - are those exclusive options? I think if it's not not the place for all SF TV, we take the show names out of the title. After the spoiler policy is determined, of course.

The status is NOT quo.

I really like the idea of no names, but a SF focus. I don't post often, but I do subscribe the the thread, and I enjoyed it more when I realized other SF shows were being discussed as well.
