Also, spoiler policies no longer apply to Firefly except with regard to the upcoming movie—show DVDs were out before Christmas of 2003.

OK about the tags - but I still think we should put it in the FAQ - spoiler question anyway just to have it on the record as our policy. (for example "this spoiler policy applies to tags as well - do not use quotes that give away plot information in your tags until [a week after airdate]")
About Firefly - I know it no longer applies to that show - I guess I just meant in general, something like, "For shows released on DVD that had the majority of their episodes unaired, whitefont shall be used in the show threads for a period of [what is it, 3 weeks after DVD general release date?], after which they are fair game in all NAFDA threads". But better written.
Just want to clarify that I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass - I'm perfectly OK with whatever the policy is - all I'm asking is that it be spelled out in the FAQ for the record.
shows released on DVD that had the majority of their episodes unaired, whitefont shall be used in the show threads for a period of
Acutally, for showthreads, I'd say hell no, because show threads are NAFDA. I don't know what the policy is, but for SHOW THREADS? If it has been "aired" (and with DVDs, I'd assume aired meant released) then NAFDA applies, or do I have that completely wrong?
Also, I'm one for simplicity rather than making things increasingly complex. If I haven't finished watching something on DVD (like Wonderfalls or Firefly) than the onus should be on me to avoid the show thread, not the other way around.
I realize I might be in the minority on this one.
ETA I had to go look to make sure I had NAFDA right. NAFDA means free to discuss what has been aired, right?
I think we do some courtesy white-fonting for the first couple of weeks in the show thread for things that were largely unaired, and I think that's a great idea. But beyond that, I don't see a need to do anything else. Besides, I don't really think this issue is going to come up again anytime soon, so I'm not sure I see where the big problem is.
If it has been "aired" (and with DVDs, I'd assume aired meant released) then NAFDA applies, or do I have that compeltely wrong?
I'm talking about the time period right after the DVDs are released - we just said that for Wonderfalls we were going to use whitefont for 3 or 4 weeks, I misremember which.
Are people not doing that, aside from the occasional slip-up?
No, they are - I'm just being anal - I know it won't come up again for a while (if ever). It would just be nice to have it in there so we wouldn't have to hunt through Bureau or ask in the thread when it's OK to post.
Right, Brenda, it's a courtesy thing. But according to NAFDA, that's all it was, a courtesy thing. I'm a big user of whitefont, but I don't expect people to do it for me in NAFDA places.
OK.
