The status is NOT quo.

I love "This ain't no tea party, princess."

I am thinking about this part of Bev's post after DC as I ponder its utter truthfulness about our F2F's:

All dolled up, we headed for the elevator. There was a sole, singular, defenseless man caught unawares by our collective gorgeousness when the doors opened. He didn't seem able to make eye contact, but ducked out of the elevator as we got on. Then he apparently realized he was on the wrong floor and ducked back in. "If you're going anywhere but the penthouse, tell us and we'll let you off on the way," someone said. "If you're good," I murmured. I'm not sure he heard me.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Carried over from Bitches:

All the ~ma you need, all the time. And the comfiest couch never to be seen on Monty Python.

This should so be added to the Bitches description header.

Yeah, I'm thinking the header for Bitches is overdue for an overhaul. It's not much of what's in the header currently. It could use a more apt description.

Cause I know this thread is hungry for traffic.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

I rather like "We saved the world. I say we party!"

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I like that, ND. Hits on more than one cylinder.

Up with the sun

I like SA's suggestion.

Oh, and I hardly ever post or read there anymore, but I like P-C's suggested revision to the Bitches threadheader nonetheless.

And while I'm blathering about titles and headers and suchlike .... could we agree that after Natter 29, we go back to more workfriendly thread names? Sorry to be a prude.

Credit where credit's due: That was SailAweigh's revision, Kristin's suggestion, and Hec's seconding.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

By the way, I don't know how many people are aware of what's going on at WX, but they're switching to a pay-to-play model. $12/yr for unlimited posting, or remain a free user limited to 10 posts a day. I don't know if this affects our archives, and I suspect they're all safely zipped up anyway, but their next step may be deleting inactive forums.

DXMachina - Nov 21, 2004 6:24:19 pm PST #3068 of 10001
You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I noticed that they forced me to look at some advertising to log in the other day, and they kept logging me out to make sure I watched it.

The problem with the archives is that although we have threadsucks of all the threads, the threadsucker is imperfect, and there are missing posts in most of them. Except for Sang Sacre, but that's only because I hand edited it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Here's what they say now:

The face of World Crossing is changing!

We at WorldCrossing appreciate the many thousands of users that have been able to enjoy the numerous features and benefits we offer, free of charge.

Sadly, we have reached a crossroads at which World Crossing must pull its own weight, or shut down. The plan that we devised is respectful of you and your wallet. Simply put, a paid subscription to World Crossing will set you back only $12 dollars a year, and you will enjoy unlimited posting and all the features of the World Crossing you've been accustomed to. As World Crossing begins to bring in funds, we will be adding some new and exciting features and benefits that will be available to our paid subscribers only. All this and no ads! $12 dollars a year too rich for your blood? No problem. Your free limited subscription still entitles you to many of the features you've come to enjoy about World Crossing. You will be able to post ten times per day, read all you want, have your own forum, and there will be ads.

Seems, for the nonce, that our forums should be safe.
