Contradicting myself, I also think that people who care should sub to/read Press, so those that don't care have a way of avoiding it entirely.
Well that's the thing. Mostpeople assume they don't care until they do, y'know?
A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

I think we should have a banner space for all sorts of urgent stuff so it's up in your face.

I agree with both.
Could we switch "vote now" with the filk or link boxes on the left side of the screen? Or would that be just as much work to code as a separate banner, with no additional benefit?
Also - serialling -- do we know how many people are subscribed to press, or how many unique visits it gets per week? I'm just curious how many people there are who really don't check it.

This is when most people don't fill me with sympathy, it seems.
The info lives there. Has always lived there.
As much as I like the banner idea, I think of it for messages that need to be persistent, like "site going down on Friday" or ad hoccery like Tim's Wonderfalls letter. Small stuff, really rarely used, because it can get annoying real quick.
A lot of the stuff in Press has no bearing on my life, but I'm ignoring it with aplomb.
Hopefully once people realise they do care, they remember how to keep facilitating said care.
Okay, I didn't know about Press or said function of it. Or if I knew, I forgot. If I'm the only person who didn't know about this stuff then I could be unique.
Sunnydale Press does not show up in my Message Center. Is that by design?
You're probably not subscribed to it, le nubian. Go to "Set profile" and check the box next to Press on the list of threads.
I did that first. It still isn't showing up.
Are you looking in the yellow box to the right of the screen?
