I would do Lightbulbs again, just because the earlier discussion was broader. I didn't see people specifically talking about why they would or wouldn't support a Lost thread specifically.
'Life of the Party'
Bureaucracy 3: Oh, so now you want to be part of the SOLUTION?
A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm still fairly new to the board and wanted a little clarification.

I agree. This is really a much different proposal than your earlier one. It's more like a "should we open a thread for X" discussion, and should be given the standard number of days for discussion/vote.
ETA: which is moot now since LB was opened while I twittered away composing my opinion.

Okay, that makes sense. So that means we have Lightbulbs open through 9 a.m. board time Tuesday, Oct. 19, and the vote goes to 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22? Or am I messing up on the dates? And should we add an extra day for discussion to make up for the fact two of the days are a weekend?

You've got the dates right. And no extra days necessary, the weekends were contemplated when we set up the one week for discussions and voting. I mean, no matter how you slice it, the weekend is going to to be part of that one week.
Moved to Lightbulbs.
(my bad)
(ditto)
is there a way to defend the answer within the poll itself, or would a person have to come here to post their reason?
Besides, the unique and compelling reasons will probably arise when the in the thread itself when someone tries to quote it--such as an AtS vs. BtVS deathmatch. Hint, hint.
Our current header on the main page reads:
A community dedicated to discussions of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly with humor, intelligence and obsessiveness.
None of those shows are airing new episodes. Is it possible to alter the header to something more accurate?
Something like "A community of people originally brought together by the Mutant Enemy shows Buffy, Angel and Firefly. Things outside of those shows are discussed here and future ME productions will be discussed here as well." Read the FAQ blah blah blah.
I would be for something along those lines.
