I'm agreeing, ita. I thought I was reading in natter and that the thread was supposed to be a natter free zone.

Braaaaiiiins...

We're all in favor of sock puppets!

I know Trudy was concerned about the state of things in NYC, but I think we have to be careful about how we're using Beep Me. I didn't think it was the place for insents (unless urgent, which I was assuming hers was, so no problem there), or for non-urgent questions.

I'm also not sure it's a place to offer gmail invites. But maybe I'm wrong.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Here are the blurbs.

If the Apocalypse Comes, Beep Me

Birth, death, illness, new job, vacation...if it's happening to you and you want us to know about it, post it here. These threads are intended for announcements only. Want to offer sympathy or congratulations, or talk about anything? Take it to Natter. Any natter here will be deleted.

Sunnydale Press

Having a party? Organizing a local F2F? Know something that we all really need to know? Announce it! Want to discuss anything posted here? Take it to Natter. Any natter here will be deleted.

I agree that things like Gmail invites should probably be posted in Press, but it's not one of my bigger concerns.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I agree that things like Gmail invites should probably be posted in Press, but it's not one of my bigger concerns.

I was wondering about that when I posted it. I thought it felt more personal than press-worthy. But since I only usually frequent Bitches, I wanted to offer the invites to a wider group of buffistas.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Cashmere and I are sharing a brain. Press has always felt more "official," with a sense of gravitas that doesn't seem to jibe with Gmail invites.

No offense meant, nor were rules or blurbs willfully ignored.

See, I've always thought of Press as the equivalent to the bulletin board at the local laundromat, while Beep Me is the serious thread about the stuff in a poster's personal life.

That's how I've always seen them, too.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Agreeing with DX & Steph.

Then my brain is wired wrong. I see "General Announcements" and it screams "official" to me, especially when contrasted with Beep Me's "Personal Announcements."

Part of the issue is that the blurb only appears on the first page. If one doesn't go all the way back, it's skipped.

Edit: Distinction noted.
