I'm planning to get into N.O. a few days early to make sure that things are all squared away at the hotel and as such can help make sure that our hospitality suite is set up to be nice and welcoming. If other folks want to join me a day or two early then we can all pitch in and make it quite the gathering place.
'Sleeper'
F2F 2: Is there anybody here that hasn't slept together?
Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: New Orleans! May 20-22, 2005!
ND. I can probably get down there early and bring a local or two to help out, possibly borrow a car.
The Cotton Exchange and Le Cirque sound like the best options of the batch to me.
I'm in the lack-of-internet-is-pretty-much-a-deal-breaker camp.
The one thing I worry about on a conference room that an asthetics committee might have trouble with would be the comfiness of the chairs (also, multi-person seating might be nice, but, you know, that's not such a big deal), and the number thereof.
So we're still trying to answer the question of internet access. It's a big issue for me too. Comfy seating would be a very good thing as well.
Ok, info we want to have from all the hotels (some of which we already have:
- How much for a room (and any variation)? For multiple people in a room?
- How much for the hospitality suite?
- What would be the nature of the hospitality suite and its furnishings?
- Prom rates? Would we need to get food from you? Can we bring stuff of our own?
- Parking rates?
- How would we get to interesting places?
- Do you have High Speed Internet Access? If so, where?
- What is in the immediate vicinity of the hotel (eg-grocery/convenience/liquor store)?
- Pool/other shiny things at the hotel?
Any others to be added to the list? Not all of these can be answered by the hotel, and I'll call if need be, but the logistics are of the suck for me.
Sorry about the delay, I was on vacation last week and not keeping up here.
The Radisson has internet access available in the rooms for $9.95/day. I have inquired about high-speed and access in the hospitality suite. I believe hotel catering is optional, but I have asked for clarification.
The St. Louis has valet parking available, I've asked about cost and internet access.
The Cotton Exchange has high-speed internet access available for a charge of $4.95/night, valet parking (price unknown), and secure daily parking with full in and out privileges for $16.95+tax/day. The Holiday Inn Express appears to be approximately next door to the Cotton Exchange with the same amenities/rates.
The ability to upload pictures via high-speed is essential. The non-attending peeps depend on this.
If I have time I'll drive (and pick up Askye!). It is too far off for me to know my actual schedule. If I'm tight I'll have to fly because it is about 16 hours by car.
I'm so delighted. At dinner tonight with GF I mentioned the F2F being in NOLA this year. She loves the city and asked if she could join me!
She was well aware of my relationship with the Buffistas but hadn't ever been to the site. I handed her my laptop the day after the election to read some of the moving posts.
Woo!
If anyone driving in passes through S'port, can I offer a pre-F2F?
