New York this weekend: what are the plans? I'm up to booking the train, and don't know what's happening and where on Saturday and Sunday, to help determine when I should be getting in and out.

Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: New Orleans! May 20-22, 2005!

As I understand it, the plan is to bum-rush the Republicans with mice and giant megaphones.

You might want to join the NYistas mailing list right quick, but tomorrow is another day of Nilly in the city before she huffs it to a domicile for Shabbos. Saturday, I know Kate and I are going to hit the Strand and keep each other from buying too much while Nilly relaxes. Kristin'll be in town then eventually too, as will Hil? Saturday night, we're going to see De La Guarda at 10:30 (with rush tickets purchased earlier). Sunday, there's a brunch at a yet to be determined location.
Cell phones abound, however, so e-mail away so we can find you. (I'd forgotten you were going to come up! This is so cool!)

I'm already on it. I haven't seen anything about Sunday plans, and only fairly vague references to Saturday. (EDIT: Ok, latest digest had the above in it.) So we're not doing anything until post-sunset?

Not with Nilly, we're not, since she can't go out. But like I said, some of us are going out to bookstores and record stores and just plain out in the city for a while, at least.
What's this?
It's...something unlike anything you've ever seen before. There's acrobatics, and a light show, and audience members get picked up by people on trapezes, and kissed, and there's a storm and everyone gets wet...
"De La Guarda" is more than a show...it is an experience! Upon entering the renovated Union Square Bank building, you are ushered downstairs to their social area for drinks, and a chance to check your coat and mingle with other guests. Five minutes before showtime, the staff gives you a shout to head back upstairs where the festivities begin.
The lights go out and you are standing in a crowd of strangers when the show literally falls from the sky. De La Guarda has a certain rhythmic vibe created by the beat of the drums, the stomping of feet and screams as the cast flies across and down, to interact with the audience(which stands and moves throughout the 70 minute show). Performers run along the ceilings in unison and you cannot help but look up and follow them with your head cocked back. Expect to get kissed, danced with, undressed, and even taken up into the sky for a ride.
Rush tickets are $25.
Do we have a time?
We're big on the yet to be determined.
Expect to get kissed, danced with, undressed, and even taken up into the sky for a ride.
If you have no desire to expect any of this, will there be any place to stand out of the way?
You can come over to my apartment and shudder in horror with me, BT.

From what I've read, women tend to be the main targets, so you should be fine.
Excellent Boston Adventures, Parte the Thirde: In Which The Waitress Takes No Guff....
Where is this story!?!?!?!

Sigh. I may have to give this a miss, then.
