I vote for a group swim in the reflecting pool after the trip to the top of the Washington Monument. Who's with me??
'Him'
F2F 2: Is there anybody here that hasn't slept together?
Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: New Orleans! May 20-22, 2005!
Are more of the LAistas coming? I know the Miracleborns, Sean, and Lee are coming. Kat, Lori, Burrell & spouse? Franny? ita? Who am I forgetting?
I'd be up for it if the Reflecting Pool weren't unfathomably disgusting. It's the kind of water that makes you remember DC was built on swampland.
Awww....But Jenny ran through it in Forrest Gump!! It *HAS* to be okay!
I wouldn't swim in it (though I used to let my dog) but you can rent canoes or kayaks and go boating on the Canal.
There are also several boathouses on the Potomac. And the Inner Harbor (in Bal'mer) has rentable paddleboats.
If people are interested in watching me keel over from bad crew practice flashbacks, we could also plan a trip to the Exorcist steps.

Note to self: Do not wear velvet pants on the day we tour the Mall.

I would love to see this. That's the first movie I can recall scaring me, and Georgetown is almost a character of its own in it.
Traditionally, midnight swims are in the Tidal Basin (near the Jefferson Memorial).
Are there any swimmable beaches in D.C.?
There's a Maryland state park just off Route 50 (which also goes right through DC) at Annapolis. It's about an hour from the city, and you don't have to go over the Bay Bridge.
Don't remember the name. Sandy Point State Park, maybe?

Does the Tidal Basin still have them? They did a few years ago.

Velvet is a little warm for that time of year.
