You go to better places than I do, I think. Well, truthfully, usually we just hit up the take-out place very near here, and most of their appetizer stuff (this is very much the American version of Chinese food, not authentic) is pre-prepared. I can usually eat the vegetable and noodle dishes, and anything else that's cooked to order.
F2F 2: Is there anybody here that hasn't slept together?
Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: New Orleans! May 20-22, 2005!
Brookline is pretty well known for its really-kosher kosher Chinese places. My brother spent more than a year flunking out of BU, drinking cheap beer and going for kosher Chinese at 2am with his Orthodox friends.
Is the Boston crowd pretty well set on going into Brookline for the group Nilly-dinner? We can get ice cream at Coolidge Corner and take her to the Booksmith after.
Another List of area Kosher food sources and restaurants from CJP.
I skipped a ton of stuff in this thread. If this is a do-over, I apologize.
Yay! I was able to reschedule my sleep-deprived EEG (which was on the Tuesday Nilly is here), so I can hang out that day.
For Chinese, every time we've visited them, we've gone to Shalom Hunan
That name is making me giggle.
I have always been intrigued by Shalom Hunan. I've driven by it many a time.
I am getting plastic/paper ware for Nilly's visit and taking her to the supermarket. She has assured me that this is fine. That is the extent of my kosher preparation.
I've sent both the links up thread to the Somervillians list, last week.
Nutty, I don't think we're much set on anything, the Brookline thing is just an idea. There's a lot of cool stuff in the area, plus food Nilly can enjoy. The only activity is my sending a gazillion emails out last week with links and random thoughts, and, uh, the last dozen posts or so. I guess doing this via email is not the best way, and we should talk it out here.
Also, is it literally Kosher, or just Kosher-style (because there's a difference, and I think Nilly is strict enough, that Kosher style wouldn't be much better than taking her out for a cheeseburger
This part we covered, Cindy, but we haven't discussed specific places that would be OK -- that CJP list is great. Thanks.
Does this mean we might actually meet you? I know I supposedly saw you that one time for 30 seconds outside the Thirsty Scholar, but I'm beginning to think I imagined it.

Coolness!!!

Heh. Let's pretend my email isn't working, shall we?

You may regret this, as I am more inclined to talk it out here (versus email, where I just wait quiety for decisions to be reached). *g* Um, did we decide which night would be the going out night? (If we did, let's just pretend I didn't get that email, either). I know there was talk (or maybe wishful thinking on mine and Nora's parts) that the evenings would be spent in, and the day would be for the out stuff.
Love,
Stick in the Mud
the evenings would be spent in
I'd much rather eat out for dinner. What with the eating and lingering, this will likely become an evening out.

Yes, sir. I've warned everyone who might try to get in my way.
[You only think you imagined meeting me, because the entirely fictional victor-thessaly-ferret contingent (c'mon ferret-having bi-coastal poets, who shop local, at least one of whom has libertarian leanings--pfffft--like they exist) have been spreading that rumor for yonks.]
