Not having has never been the thing I've regretted most in my life. Not trying is.

You're right. It does sound a bit harsh.

Our wings are not tired

I figured it would.

Basically I know that quite a few people are pretty quiet about their choices and I don't want this to be a popularity contest with all the cool kids shouting out their choices.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Basically I know that quite a few people are pretty quiet about their choices and I don't want this to be a popularity contest with all the cool kids shouting out their choices.

This makes sense to me.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Me too.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm with ND on this.

Not having has never been the thing I've regretted most in my life. Not trying is.

Wasn't asking for a recount, or looking to track down who voted for what. The idea that simply by mentioning my vote (which pretty much was clear from the discussion) was trying to shake that info out of people who don't want to discuss it seems a bit of a stretch.

If you don't want to discuss it, don't discuss it.

My post was for the exact purpose I said it was for. To explain why I was about to lurk/unsubscribe. I was hoping to avoid the appearance of a pout because my city didn't make the cut.

Clearly a miscalculation on my part.

That said, I really don't have much to add right now, so I'll be unsubscribing. I hope everybody has fun on the Nillyvisit, and I hope to hear all about it (with piccies.)

TTFN.

Totally understood. I was actually reacting very quickly to the series of posts that were voicing how folks voted. We'll keep you posted on how things are going through Press and there will be pics of Nilly.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Astarte -- I agreed with ND, but it had nothing to do with your post specifically. I just didn't want to have to scroll through 50 posts of people announcing what they voted for. I already got the totals -- that's all I need to know.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Huh. Entire point of my post was basically a growl of regret that I could only pick two; I love Austin (Amy's Ice Cream!), would do Cleveland in a heartbeat (dude! Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!), and basically feel there wasn't a honker in the bunch. I'm hoping to be in Toronto for Bouchercon in October, so I have to not gloat over that particular possibility.

IOW? Hard choices this time out. I could just have easily chosen mine by throwing a dart - no huge preference at all.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I love Austin (Amy's Ice Cream

Mmm, Amy's. Stop making me miss it. At least I have the shirt.
