Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Trudy, it's kind of odd, isn't it? I'm thinking that they just really want the business and jump on every opportunity to send their stuff.

Yep. It also ups our odds of talking them down in price.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Nilly, I'm not around much these days, but I'm sure that someone will keep me in the loop. We definitely want to see you.

Ordinarily I would be tempted by Disneyland, only I think Franny may still be too wee to really enjoy it much. Plus she could only take about 2 hours or so before she'd pop.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Nilly,

Sheryl, when are you leaving for your honeymoon?

We are spending a few days in Boston, from Sept. 3-6(World Science Fiction Convention), then we head to Rome.

Nilly should come to DC! It's 4 hours by car (I'm sure a buffista could oblige) or bus ($20 each way on the Chinatown express) to NYC. Or 3 hours-ish by train (more expensive) or 45 minutes by plane (sometimes you can get cheap fares, and there are departures every half hour or hour!).

Plus, DC has tons of (free!) museums, and Buffistas aplenty to offer places to stay (I offer!). There's...uh...I have no idea on the number or quality of kosher restaurants. But stuff that's so quintessentially American--the monuments! the White House!

Always Anti-fascist!

DC is very cool.

Kosher restaurants in the DC area

I can also offer lodging, and I think that maybe the DCistas might be able to kick in a few bucks for a ticket (if you haven't already)

Nilly, for you, I'd even get rid of all of the bacon in my house, now that's love.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Nilly, for you, I'd even get rid of all of the bacon in my house, now that's love.

Hee!

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I already offered Nilly lodging if she's going to be here after August 27th. Kosher restaurants around here aren't that great -- within DC, there are a few delis. The suburbs have more.

Punishingly Intricate

Oh I totally would! I was too late to get on the plane ticket wagon. And it will be right around my birthday. Bonus!

I love taking the train between here and NYC. It is more expensive but so easy and comfortable. And I love the industrial North East landscape you ride through. And the bridge sign in Trenton "Trenton Makes, the World Takes." So resentful. I love it!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I hate to interrupt the Nilly-visit talk, but this seemed like the right place to ask -- what's the best way to get from San Diego to LA without spending a ton of money? Is there a train?
