You know, I've saved lives. Dozens. Maybe hundreds. I reattached a girl's leg. Her whole leg. She named her hamster after me. I got a hamster. He drops a box of money, he gets a town.

F2F 2: Is there anybody here that hasn't slept together?

Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: New Orleans! May 20-22, 2005!

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

It's like getting the porn version of the bends.

The bendovers?

I'll do my damnedest to come wherever we end up holding it next year, but my vote goes to NOLA first.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Nebber mind.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

The presence of much air-conditioning makes NOLA sound more appealing. I think the DC heat and humidity were more noticeable due to the amount of outdoor sightseeing.

As for the crime rate, I'm not. saying. a. word. t /Baltimore resident

Wusses. Flying into Denver has nothing on flying into Albuquerque for getting bounced around. And the airport is easy to navigate unlike, say, the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport.

I've never had a problem with crime in NOLA, but then I didn't go to any of the big three cemeteries. I've never had a problem with crime in DC either, despite some questionable times and places. NOLA has palmetto bugs and really obnoxious tourists and fratboys as the downside, but amazing food and excuses for female buffistas to de-shirt for the upside.

Okay, so I'm keeping loose data on stuff at the moment. Memphis came up, did we have anyone say they would like to be local point if the city were Memphis? At this point this really has no bearing on the viability of the location, I'm just trying to keep track of all the data points.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Jeez, I was just in New Orleans the week of the F2F and it wasn't bad at all. Every shop and bar and restaurant is both air conditioned and has ceiling fans. You walk around in the morning while it's still cool, or you go out at night and stay out late. We took an afternoon nap almost every day - siesta time! It was perfect after 10 cent martinis at lunch.

Also, I've been to New Orleans three times in the last five years for stays of at least a week. No problem with crime. Not once did I even feel like I was in a dicey situation, and I did tour all the major cemetaries. There are areas you don't go, and basic precautions you take but if you're not an idiot it's not a problem.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

I'm still rooting for NO.

But for the record, I already mentioned that I'd have no problem working on Nashville. Memphis, I think, would be kind of a crummy spot for an F2F, but I can help with that too. Though I'm really NO at heart.
