Hmm. Kansas City -- very central. There's some stuff to do (jazz, Negro Leagues Museum, Nelson_atkins with the best collection of Eastern art in the U.S.) and easy to get around in.
And there's ME! Party-planner extrodinaire, queen of cleavage, hostess with the mostess. And KC in May is warm, but not hot like NO, and the nights are lovely.
(Although I'm pimping KC, I LOVE LOVE LOVE New Orleans.)
I can't wait until we're seriously discussing options for next year.
I don't think it would hurt to start the discussion in the near future, so we can start looking at options, prices, etc.
DC is the south
Are you sure you're not from New England? I've never heard a non-New Englander refer to DC as the south before. We tend to refer to anything south of the Mason-Dixon line as "the south", but I've heard Southerners protest that idea vehemently.
Someone (or more than one person) took a picture of me and meara and I would LOVE LOVE to see it. I'm thinking maybe there was more than one picture taken with meara and me, but she has her leg around me in this one.
That would be me wot took that one. Study is slowing me down in posting them. As well as having to find somewhere to post them, but mainly the study thing.
Take your time in posting it. I'll just wait in anticipation to see it.

Yup.
When y'all are ready, I'll pull up NO options. Hotels, areas of town, etc.
KC would be great. Especially if we got a hotel on The Plaza. Lots of bars and restaurants.
ND, I'm leaving now, and I should be there in 15.
I was thinking of Austin when I heard the humidity concerns.
Texas weather is, to say the least, wildly unpredicatable, but Austin would be a great city to have a F2F in.
I could help with the planning here (as I live in Austin) and there are several other Txistas who might be able to help out, though I'm not volunteering anybody but me, of course.
I still like the Buffistas in NOLA as a concept-humidity or not.
I'd be happy to help out with any planning for a TX based event. Houston/Dallas/Galveston/San Antonio/Austin are all fun cities.
Houston's a SW hub, IIRC.
Austin's got direct flights from SoCal (or did when I was consulting a few years ago) and possibly from NYC and Seattle as well, because of various industry ties.
San Antonio, where I lived for a couple of years is a city in search of a party 24/7.
Galveston is a lovely city. I've only been once, but I plan on many repeats. To do so with Buffistas would be a delight. It is a seaside town, so best prices would be after spring breaks and before Memorial Day weekend.
DFW has the AA hub, but as Heather that doesn't mean much for the airfares. Accessibility from various parts of the continent, yes, but not cheaply. Lots of stuff to do. I like the Ft Worth part of the metroplex better than Dallas, but then again, I've spent more time in FW. I even know where the zoo is. ;)
