Where the heck is that set of steps?
Lincoln Memorial, I'm guessing.
Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: New Orleans! May 20-22, 2005!

For those of us who had 8th grade trips to Washington DC, remember the cheesy group photo they made us take? We should totally do that.
Yes indeed. They used to do that in 5th grade here, but they cancelled it because too many parents were freaked after 9/11 about the notion of their children in DC.
edit to note they went to Orlando instead which to kids here is really same old same old.
We had the capital behind us.
Every year the gym teacher and some cool kid ran from one side to the other and was on both sides of the photo.
Hush, you involuntary Sherpa you.
Don't make me drop a yurt on your foot, missy.
Hey Sean, looks like we'll both be drinking drinks, imagine that!
WOOHOO!
or El Clopserino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
I shall call you this all weekend.
Up where I live, the truly gross part of the cicadage (molting) seems to have passed. I think the worst we'll have for the F2F is the noise, noise, noise.
Oh joy. Anne, do I need to send you flight info, or did I already do that?
I saw my first cicada yesterday. Based on others' experience, how long until the grossness?
Vortex, insent to aol addy. Please ping me back to confirm receipt
pinged.

I have yet to see a cicada. I keep saying that, and I know I'm just setting myself up for a hurtin'
Got it, Vortex, thanks.
This early arrival party at Anne's, is it Thursday or Friday?

I think that's Thursday, and I won't be arriving until prolly about 1am (flight gets in around midnight that night).
Hello!
It is a bit crunchy out there, Raquel. I've noticed it's worse in the early morning though. Also, it won't be quite as bad in the city proper, I think due to the high concrete-to-dirt ratio.
I just got back from BWI, Virginia, and downtown D.C., and I don't know if I was just in the right places or what, but I saw very few cicadas. The noise wasn't too bad, either. Like Vortex said, this could be setting myself up for disaster, but...wanted to second the "not as bad as it could be" sentiment.
The weather was gorgeous!
Teppy, you can put "KristinT" as my board name, but please please list just "Kristin" on my tag for what I'd like to be called. I don't mind nicknames such as have been given me here or ones from my RL (Kris or Kat)....but "Kristin T" gives me bad elementary school flashbacks.
Also, BWI types -- I've been told you can take the "Mark" (sp?) Train direct from BWI to Union Station as well.

MARC. I'm sure it stands for something. And you can, but I don't know details offhand.
Cicadas very minor at my house (yay having pine trees) but I'm not going into the woods behind the house. I got hit in the fact with one while talking yesterday; entirely too close a call.
There's already been one cicada-related hospitalization. Guy decided to try out some of the recipes, ate about 30 cicadas. Discovered that he's allergic to them.
